My Recommendations for March 14th, 2015

Good morning folks! It’s supposed to be a lovely day to day and I can’t wait to take advantage of it! It’s not supposed to get very warm, only 60, but that’s good enough for me. With as cold and rainy as it’s been lately, this is a wonderful change. On a not so fun note, I cut my thumb yesterday trimming the fat off of a still partially frozen roast, so today, I’m rocking a neon green band-aid. It’s in the way of typing, but not too much trouble. Time to check out Amazon.com for some new Finds.

My Recommendations for February 19th, 2015

Good morning folks! Chilly morning here in DFW, though from what I hear we’re warmer than most. Don’t worry though.. the next arctic cold front is supposed to slam us on Sunday or so. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over my procedure yesterday. Everything went well, and other than a stiff neck due to how they had me positioned, I’m fine. 🙂 More news! My Step-dad and I are working on an aquaponics system. I’ll take pictures and post them when we get things figured out. On that note, it’s off to Amazon.com to see what new things they can inspire us all to today.

My Recommendations for February 12th, 2015

Good morning. Early start here. My daughter is a bit under the weather and my son decided 4am was a perfect time to wake up. I disagreed, but since I don’t want my house demolished, I figured I’d better get up with him. It’s going to be a bit cooler day today, but nothing bad. High of 57 or so. Our low was under 40 though so I’m not quite ready to pull the trigger on planting quite yet. Another couple of weeks and it should be a bit better. Have you picked out your Valentine’s a gift? Head on over to Amazon.com for last minute goodies. On that note, let’s see what they have for us today!

An Introduction to Fodder Feeding

http://www.motherearthnews.com/~/media/Images/MEN/Editorial/Blogs/Homesteading%20and%20Livestock/DIY%20Sprouted%20Fodder%20for%20Livestock/Fodder-1.jpg

Fodder feeding is a subject that has really fascinated me lately. What a great way to stretch your feed budget! One pound of grain turns into 5 pounds of feed!!!! There’s tons of designs and plans online for these, but I’m a visual learner. I would rather watch a video with someone really SHOWING me what they mean instead of just throwing the information at me and leaving me to my own devices. (Trust me, that’s not usually a good plan.) One of my favorite YouTubers,  Michigansnowpony, did a couple of videos on this and I’d like to share those with you today.

Here’s part 1 of her two part sprouting videos:

And part 2 :

See? Super easy.

Her chickens and rabbits sure love it. Everyone else… not so much. lol

If you’d like a great step-by-step tutorial on how to build your own, then check out Sarah Cuthill‘s tutorial:

So ready to take that leap? You’re probably better off buying the actual hardware locally, so check around. Might even find a better deal on seed, but if not, then you can get it here. Here’s some other resources that might help out:

These are NOT free.. so keep that in mind.

Good morning folks! It’s going to be a lovely day again here in DFW. It’s been a few nice days here, and boy do my allergies know it! Mountain cedar is the highest right now and apparently it’s kicking my butt. Guess I’ll need to check one of my books for allergy cures eh? On that note, let’s see what Amazon.com has for us today.

Good morning! Well it’s finally stopped raining here in DFW. Right now it’s about 40 degrees outside, so definitely still chilly, at least by our standards. Hopefully the weather is getting better where you are. So let’s see what Amazon has today. As always, these are free at time of posting.
